Infrastructure or equipment
The GFZ computing centre is the central institution responsible for the IT infrastructure and services providing a holistic infrastructure to enable user-friendly and cross-platform work and communication. Among other services, the GFZ computing centre offers a high-performance compute (HPC) Linux cluster. It consists of 189 nodes with different CPU's, memory sizes and interconnects allowing Infiniband Interconnect Structure between the nodes and the Parallel Storage System (High Performance Network). Locally, in the Geomagnetism section, additional processing servers exist dedicated to development and testing activities.
The GFZ’s Geomagnetism team operates and is responsible for the following services:
- The geomagnetic definitive Kp and its related indices (ap, Ap, Cp) indices at https://www.gfz-potsdam.de/en/kp-index/;
- The geomagnetic nowcast Kp and its related indices (ap, Ap) indices at http://swe.ssa.esa.int/en_GB/gfz-kp-federated;
- ESA’s Swarm constellation satellite mission products in ESCsIonospheric Weather and Geomagnetic Conditions at http://swe.ssa.esa.int/en_GB/gfz-sua-federated;
We also contribute and support ESA’s Swarm constellation satellite mission products provision at http://swarm-diss.eo.esa.int.
