Post doc position in ionospheric modelling available at INGV

INGV issued a call for application with regards to a post-doc position in ionospheric modelling.

The selected candidate will work on a project recently approved under the framework agreement between INGV and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) that is in charge to manage the Broglio Space Center in Malindi (Kenya).

The title of the research is “Monitoring and modelling of the ionosphere over Eastern Africa”. The research activity will involve the following:

• Design of a new ionospheric observatory to be realized in the Broglio Space Center in Malindi (Kenya);
• Development and optimization of algorithms for the monitoring and forecasting of ionospheric Total Electron Content;
• Development and implementation of ionospheric models including data ingestion and assimilation techniques for the exploitation of the data acquired by the ionosonde and GNSS receiver installed in the new observatory.

The grant will cover 12 months being renewable for additional 18 months.
