Dr Tobias Verhulst

Dr T. Verhulst is research scientist and manager of the GNSS laboratory and the ionosonde, working at the IRM/KMI Geophysical Centre in the framework of the Belgian Solar-Terrestrial Centre of Excellence. He obtained his PhD in theoretical physics at the Universiteit Antwerpen in 2011. Since then, he has been working on the development of mathematical models for the ionosphere, using ground-based and satellite-based observations of space weather and space climate phenomena. One of the aspects of this research is the mutual influence variations in the magnetic field and space plasmas have on each other. He is also involved in the development of real-time services and alert systems to inform users of conditions of the geophysical environment.
